Ryusen Japanese maple is a unique weeping variety of Acer plamatum with green palmate leaves. Most other cascading Japanese maple varieties have lace leaves. In addition, Ryusen has the extreme habit of cascading, which makes it ideal for a tight spot in the landscape or as a focal point for an unusual specimen. To gain height, Rysuen often needs to be staked. Ryusen has fall colors that go through the wonderful color changes of yellow – orange – to scarlet red. Ryusen Japanese maple is also known as Ryusei. Very hardy and a vigorous grower.
